Being Found by Couples: Why Your Agency Belongs on a Map, and How to Get There in Two Minutes
A couple looking for a wedding planner is not looking for a name, they are looking for a place: “wedding planner Lyon”, “wedding planner Bordeaux”. If they do not find you on a map, they find someone else. Here is what a well-filled listing changes, what couples really look at, and how to get listed with no account and no sales call.
Key takeaways
2 minto submit a free listing: name, address, services, starting price. A person checks it, then it is on the map.
- Couples look for a wedding planner by place: a map answers the question they really ask, “who works near my wedding?”.
- A listing that shows its services, languages, a starting price and a tagline receives qualified enquiries; an empty listing receives enquiries you have to sort.
- On the Weddtap directory, the free listing takes two minutes, no account, and a person checks it before publication. Nobody pays to rank higher.
- The Pro listing, included in Weddtap Pro from £17 a month, adds photos, phone number and WhatsApp, the full presentation and the “Verified” badge, and goes first between equal listings.
In this article
We all have a website, an Instagram account, sometimes a page on a big paid directory. And yet most couples who write to us started with the same phrase in a search engine: “wedding planner” followed by a city. They are not looking for an agency, they are looking for a place. If your agency does not show up when someone searches that place, it does not exist for them. That is the whole idea of a map.
What couples really look at
Since the directory opened, we can see what makes a couple click one listing rather than another. It is not the logo. It is four pieces of information, in this order.
- The areaYour city, and how far you travel. A couple marrying 40 km from you wants to know that before anything else.
- The servicesFull planning, partial planning, day-of coordination. A couple who wants coordination will not write to an agency that only does full planning, and that is better for both of you.
- The starting price“From €3,500” saves a first exchange for nothing. Couples read it as a floor, not as a quote.
- A taglineYours, in 140 characters. “Weddings that look like you, from the Dombes to the Beaujolais” says more than a paragraph of values.
Languages and styles come next. An English-speaking family filters on “speaks English”; a couple dreaming of a seaside wedding looks at “Seaside”. These are filters, and a listing that does not fill them does not appear when they are ticked.
An empty listing means enquiries to sort
This is the point planners underestimate. A listing that says neither its area, nor its services, nor its price receives enquiries, but enquiries that do not suit it: a wedding 300 km away, a budget three times too low, a coordination when you only do full planning. Every off-target enquiry is a polite reply to write and a disappointed couple. A complete listing filters for you, before the first message.
Free, checked by hand, no paid ranking
The Weddtap directory works the opposite way from the big directories. No commission, no paid placement, no sales call. You submit your listing without an account, in three steps, and a person checks it before publishing: a duplicate or a fake agency does not get in. The ranking follows what the listing shows, never what it pays: a listing with a presentation, a starting price, a tagline and a website goes before an empty one.
- Free listing: your name, your city, your pin, your services, languages, styles, your starting price, your tagline. Couples' enquiries arrive by e-mail, with a link to edit your listing whenever you want.
- Pro listing: on top of that, your phone number and WhatsApp visible in one click, your full presentation, and the “Verified by Weddtap” badge.
The Pro listing is included in Weddtap Pro, the software for your weddings, from £17 a month, 30 days free without a card. Couples who filter on “Verified” only see Pro listings, and they go first between equal listings.
What a good listing contains, line by line
| Field | What to write | What to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Address | The real one, or at least the city: it is the pin on the map | A “prestigious” city where you do not work |
| Radius | How far you really go, without a surcharge | “Anywhere” if you never take a wedding 300 km away |
| Services | The ones you sell this year | Ticking everything to cast a wide net |
| Starting price | Your real floor for your most common service | A teaser price you never honour |
| Tagline | A place, a tone, a promise, in 140 characters | “We create unique and unforgettable moments” |
And then?
When a couple writes to you from your listing, you receive their first names, their date and venue, their number of guests and their budget. Reply fast, with two questions rather than a price: that is what sets apart, among the replies a couple compares, the agency they will call back. For the rest of the journey, from the first meeting to the signed quote, that is the software's job.
