Where our figures come from, and how we correct them

A wedding guide is only worth reading if you can trust it. Here is how we write, calculate and correct what you read on Weddtap.

01

Who publishes

Weddtap is a service that builds a wedding’s guest page for couples, and Weddtap Pro for wedding planners. The articles, the free tools and the budget pages are published by Weddtap, under the publisher’s name.

No article is sponsored and no link is an affiliate link: we are paid neither to recommend a supplier nor to rank one. The only products we sell are our own, and they are labelled as such.

02

Who writes the articles

The articles on our blog, for couples and for wedding planners alike, are signed and reviewed by Martin Pontegnier, founder of Weddtap, before they are published. His name appears at the top of each article, with a link to his page.

Weddtap is published by CLAMT, a company based in Paris, whose publishing director is Martin Pontegnier. The legal notice gives the publisher’s full details.

03

How the budget figures are calculated

The calculator and the “budget by guests” pages use the same engine. Each line (catering, drinks, venue, photography, outfits, décor, music, stationery, rings, hair and make-up, everything else) is the sum of a cost per guest and a fixed cost, at three levels of spend.

A region and a season adjust it, except outfits, rings and hair and make-up, which depend on neither. The orders of magnitude come from sector averages published in France, the UK and Spain; amounts are rounded to the nearest hundred and given with a margin of 15%.

They are reference points to frame a project, never a quote. We say so on every page that carries them.

04

How the articles are written

Each article starts with the answer, in a few lines, then goes into detail: the figures, the exceptions, what changes from one case to another. When an amount, a deadline or a rule is quoted, its source is listed at the bottom of the article: an official text for the law, a published survey for prices.

The English and Spanish articles are not word-for-word translations: amounts, customs and paperwork are adapted to each country, because a wedding is prepared differently in London, Madrid and Lyon.

05

Updates and corrections

The publication date appears on each article and the review date on the budget pages. Figures, legal thresholds and prices are reviewed at least once a year, and whenever a change is known.

If you spot an error, an out-of-date figure or a confusing explanation, write to us: we correct it, and we date the correction.

What the free tools do with your data

The free tools (calculator, wording generator, planning timeline, QR code) calculate in your browser. What you type is neither sent nor stored on our servers, and no account is needed.

What if your guests finally had every answer?
