How to read these figures

INSEE’s figures count every wedding held in France: they come from civil registry data and are final for 2024. They say nothing about budgets or the size of the party.

The average budget comes from a survey, not a census: the Mariages.net study questions 1,304 French couples married in 2025 who had an account on the site and replied to an email invitation. Couples who plan online are therefore over-represented, and a very simple or very private wedding is less visible. Take it as a benchmark, not a rule.

For your own budget, the most useful starting point is your guest count: it explains most of the gap between a small wedding and a large reception.
